HFHMM is proud to partner with the local interfaith community to begin an interfaith build on our new Maple Hill site. Local Christian, Jewish, and Muslim congregations have joined together to sponsor a new townhome for a family in need. For more information, please download our Interfaith Unity Build Fact Sheet.
In 2011 and 2012 HFHMM partnered with the LGBT community to rehabilitate a single family home in Wheaton. This close collaboration between HFHMM and the local LGBT community combined fundraising and construction resources. The team included a diverse collection of highly energized people including several local and state government officials as well as major sponsorships from the Sanford and Doris Slavin Foundation, Morey Bernstein Memorial Foundation, One Marriott, PFLAG National, National Gay & Lesbian Task Force, District Title, Washington Blade, the Montgomery College Foundation and many, many more. After demolishing the interior, the house was re-built including installation of new energy-efficient mechanical systems, windows, and appliances. The proud owner of this new home is a wonderful family of four.
Women Build is a national program, which is not about excluding men; it is about including women! In 2010 HFHMM expanded its Women Build program to include its first Women Build sponsored home. Since that time Women Build has sponsored one additional home in 2011 and continues to be a presence each year in May during National Women Build Week.
