
Program Overview
Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland is partnering with Montgomery County’s Department of Housing and Community Affairs (DHCA) to deliver the Efficient Electric Appliance Operations Program (EEAOP). This program helps income-qualifying homeowners in Montgomery County reduce energy costs, improve indoor air quality, and support safer, more comfortable living environments by replacing outdated or fossil-fuel-powered appliances and fuel switching with efficient electric alternatives.
What We Do
Through EEAOP, qualifying homeowners may receive new, energy-efficient electric appliances to replace older, inefficient, or fossil-fuel-powered systems. Where applicable, the program includes retrofitting or replacing fossil fuel appliances with electric-powered systems or equipment.
Services May Include:
Replacement of fossil fuel appliances with:
- High-efficiency electric heat pumps
- Electric heat pump water heaters
- Electric cooktops/ranges
- Electric dryers
Program Eligibility
To qualify, homeowners must:
- Reside in Montgomery County, MD
- Own and occupy the home
- Meet income eligibility requirements
- Submit documentation including:
- Completed application
- Photo ID (for all household members 18+)
- Proof of gross income for the past 30 days
- A current electric bill and heating bill (if applicable)
- Signed homeowner agreement
Applicants may also be asked to confirm current utility conditions (e.g., disconnect notices or service shutoff) and home safety issues (e.g., mold, leaks, electrical hazards).
