Honoring a Life of Service

At Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland, we join the nation and the world in sending our thoughts and prayers to the family of Rosalynn Carter. The former first lady touched the hearts of so many with her genuine compassion, tireless spirit and deep faith.

President and Mrs. Carter first volunteered with Habitat in 1984. They celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on a Habitat build site in Chicago; they camped out with volunteers in locations around the world; and they did countless interviews and appearances — many of them as part of long build days — to raise awareness about the need for adequate and affordable shelter. Mrs. Carter graciously employed her influence to attract Habitat supporters worldwide.

Through this humble approach, Mrs. Carter helped open the doors to brighter futures for thousands of Habitat homeowners. Join us in honoring Mrs. Carter by signing Habitat for Humanity's online memory book and sharing your thoughts and messages.
