Construction Volunteers

Volunteer partners are vital to our work of building simple, decent and affordable homes. We welcome volunteers of all skill and experience levels to build with us. Volunteers don’t need construction experience, only a desire to serve.

Team Build Partners
Team Builds are an opportunity to engage your company or organization in a worthwhile and fun day of service. By investing as little as $2,500 in Habitat’s work, you will contribute to your community and empower your group members. Based upon the available build, your group of up to 10 volunteers will learn about affordable housing and make a concrete contribution to our cause, and will end the day with a strong sense of accomplishment. Habitat will provide lunch, instruction and supervision, and an opportunity to learn more about our vital work in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties.

Visit our Corporate Sponsorships page or contact our Development Department at Development@HabitatMM.org to learn more about setting up a Team Build.

Faith Partners

A build day with Habitat is an opportunity to put faith and love into action. By investing in Habitat’s work, you will empower members of your faith community to serve our partner families in a tangible way. Based upon the available build, Habitat will provide your group members with instruction, supervision and an opportunity to learn more about our vital work in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties. Faith communities wishing to deepen their commitment to Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland may join our Interfaith build program.

Contact Faith@HabitatMM.org to schedule a day of service or join our group of Interfaith sponsors.

Crew Leaders

Crew Leaders are the dedicated individuals who guide our unskilled volunteers on the site. Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland relies on our crew leaders to keep our sites safe and volunteers happy. We ask all our crew leaders to attend training in site safety and commit to volunteer with us at least one day a month. We welcome all individuals with experience in construction or working with volunteers to consider joining us as a crew leader.

Contact our Volunteer Department at Volunteer@HabitatMM.org learn more about becoming a crew leader.

Individual and Community Group Partners

Because of the high interest in build days from our corporate and faith sponsors, we only occasionally have openings for individuals and unaffiliated groups. Individuals should check our volunteer sign up page regularly, as we typically post publicly available build days one to two weeks in advance.

Individuals seeking to put together a group of 5 to 10 volunteers for a build day should contact our Volunteer Department at Volunteer@HabitatMM.org to learn more about potential available dates.

Volunteer Policies

All volunteers on our construction sites must be at least 18 years of age. Volunteers must wear sturdy clothing, including long pants (no leggings, yoga pants or shorts), and closed toe shoes.
