Community Development Network of Maryland hosted a series of events and workshop during Community Development Week 2024. One of the events was co-hosted with Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland - Advancing Black Homeownership: Understanding the Past to Better the Future.
This event will shined a light on the historic systemic disparities in homeownership between black and white Marylanders. The event will focus on national examples of partnership between communities, organizations, and governments that promote the development and preservation of homeownership as a tool for restorative justice.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER CHRISTOPHER TYSON - MARYLAND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WEEK
Chris Tyson, President of the National Community Stabilization Trust spoke at the Community Development Network of Maryland event: Advancing Black Homeownership: Understanding the Past to Better the Future. Mr. Tyson message highlighted the importance of “understanding the past to build a better future.” National Community Stabilization Trust focuses on expanding affordable homeownership opportunities through rehabilitating vacant or distressed homes in communities across the United States.
