In 2026, Habitat for Humanity marks a powerful milestone—50 years of bringing people together to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. For five decades, Habitat has worked alongside families and communities around the world to ensure that everyone has a safe, decent, and affordable place to call home.
To honor this legacy and look ahead to the future, Habitat for Humanity International is launching a bold global brand campaign: Let’s Open the Door. More than a campaign, it’s a movement—one that invites communities everywhere to come together, raise awareness, and take action to expand access to affordable housing.
Opening Doors Around the World
As part of this global initiative, Habitat is bringing the message to life through pop-up door installations in 10 cities worldwide from March through June. Each installation features 10 uniquely designed doors, created by local artists and paired with real homeowner stories that reflect the life-changing impact of stable housing.
The tour kicked off in New York City and will continue across major cities, creating immersive, interactive spaces where visitors can engage with Habitat’s mission in a meaningful way. Each pop-up directs participants to the campaign hub on Habitat’s website, including a digital door experience that expands the stories and impact beyond the physical installations.
These doors are more than art—they are symbols of opportunity, dignity, and possibility. Together, they represent what can be achieved when individuals, communities, and organizations unite around a shared vision: a world where everyone has a place to call home.

Bringing the Movement Home
While the global tour connects cities across continents, the heart of the campaign lies in local communities. Affiliates like Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland are encouraged to think creatively about how to “pop up” doors in their own neighborhoods—whether through art, storytelling, events, or community engagement.
Every door—physical or symbolic—represents a step toward a stronger, more equitable future.
A Door to the Next 50 Years
As Habitat reflects on five decades of impact, Let’s Open the Door is also a call to action for the future. The need for affordable housing remains urgent, but so does the opportunity to make a difference—together.
Because when we open a door, we do more than provide shelter.
We open the door to opportunity, stability, and hope.
